Application Timeline - Spring Admission

(for students who already have a bachelor’s degree)

Application Deadline: March 3, 2008

1 year or more before MAT application deadline

• See Academic Success Coordinator and/or Content Area Advisor in College of Education
• Consider additional “experiences with adolescents” – especially substitute teaching

·        Recommend taking Praxis I and Praxis II Tests

·        Take additional content coursework, if needed, to meet content preparation standards

Fall 2007 Semester

·        Request letters of recommendation

·        Consult again with content area advisor to ensure content preparation is on track

·        Take Praxis I and Praxis II Tests if not done so already

·        Take additional content coursework, if needed, to meet content preparation standards

January 2008

• Submit Graduate Application to UAA Enrollment Services
• Request transcripts from other universities (if necessary)
• Take additional content coursework, if needed, to meet content preparation standards

February 1, 2008

• Praxis I needs to be taken by February 1 (earlier dates recommended)

March 2008

• Last testing opportunity for Praxis II (earlier dates recommended)
• Applicants taking Praxis II in March will be considered for admission to the MAT only if space is available

March 3, 2008 or before – submit to College of Education:

• MAT Application for Admission
• Resume
• Essay
• Experience with Adolescents
• 3 Letters of Recommendation
• Initial Content Preparation Review Form

May 1, 2008 or before

·        Notification to Applicants (Admitted or Not Admitted)

June 2008

·        Coursework begins
