Hilary joined the University of Alaska Anchorage in January of 2003. Prior to moving to Alaska, she taught in a variety of Early Childhood settings including childcare, public Pre-K for at-risk children and their families, and elementary grades up through 6th grade. She was certified to teach K-12 in CA with an emphasis in early childhood and elementary education. She has taught in California, Washington, Idaho, and Arizona.
In her free time, she enjoys camping, skiing, hiking, sewing, and cooking with her family.
Her research interests include: family-community partnerships, early literacy strategies, teacher research and reflection using observations and documentation, and currently she is exploring pre-service early childhood teacher education practices.
