Three steps (complete information regarding the admission process can be obtained from the UAA Catalog.

Important Deadlines for Admission to UAA

  • Fall Admission: July 1st
  • Spring Admission: November 1st
  • Summer Admission: May 1st

Please submit your completed applications to UAA by these deadlines in order to register as a Degree Seeking Student and in order to qualify for financial aid.

The application process

For individuals meeting the minimum entry requirements, admission to the Master of Early Childhood Special Education program requires the following:

1. Submit a completed UAA graduate application.

2. Submit a completed Special Education Program application.

3. Official transcripts showing completion of Bachelor's degree.

4. The student must have 2 letters of recommendation from supervisors who document your work with young children and /or one from an academic advisor. Letters from peers, friends, parents or     relatives are not considered. Applicants can use the Application Recommendation Form and/or a letter format.

5. Paper describing philosophy of services for young children, including young children who experience difficulties.

6. Written statement describing why you are interested in the area of early childhood in general, and young children who experience disabilities specifically.

7. Written statement of your goals as they relate to the field of Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education.

8. Students will be interviewed and advised by ECSE faculty regarding program and their acceptance or non-admission.
